I am a calm and patient individual with a genuine love for children. I have experience in private nannying, nursery settings and also secondary school support work. I enjoy helping the children I work with to use their imagination and encourage creative learning whenever possible. During my time spent as a Nanny I would set up activities involving cooking, growing our own vegetables and creating dens. This provided the children with developmental opportunities and helped to broaden their experiences. Creative learning is my favourite aspect of nannying as I feel it’s the best way to build relationships through activities that the child enjoys. I spent time working at Headingley Pre School which is a provision that draws from the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. I do also believe that clear and consistent boundaries are really important for a child to feel safe in your care. I always support children to help them understand that mistakes are ok and I use this as a learning opportunity to explain the ‘why?’. One of my favourite children’s books is ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ I found this book really useful as a way of helping children to understand mistakes they’ve made.
