As a nursery nurse I have to ensure the day to day care of the children, keeping their health, hygiene and development at the forefront of my daily activities as well as following all policies and procedures that are in place. I am able to assist the children in their play as well as know when to step back and allow them to be independent. Some other key jobs throughout my day are changing nappies and helping the children to learn basic hygiene as they grow. I am able to provide comfort and reassurance to children who are ill and upset as well as support the parents in many ways. This is one aspect of my job that I particularly enjoy, liaising and building a relationship with the parents. Learning about families cultures and cooperating with them about their child’s needs.
