Hi, I’m Rosa. I currently work part time as a play worker in breakfast, after school and holiday clubs through ‘All my friends Childcare’. Here I look after 5 to 11 year olds in brockworth and Barnwood. So far I have training in child protection, food and hygiene and protect duty. I will be expanding my learning over the coming months. I regularly look after two primary school aged children, one of which has special educational needs (SEN). I have learnt how to support both children’s unique needs and created a predictable routine they are both familiar with. A key part of this has been working with and learning from their parent’s who of course know them best. I have also developed a range of activities that help if they’re overstimulated, frustrated or uncooperative. The adaptability and patience I have learnt through this experience means that I feel confident in helping multiple children simultaneously, I am able to appropriate my actions to their needs and figure out how they best communicate. Moreover, I really enjoy caring for them. We read stories, play games and get creative. I find it such a rewarding thing to do and the fun far outweighs the challenges.
