Hello, my name is Renae! Since 2013, I have provided for different families in my neighbourhood and surrounding area in Canada - two families with three children and one family with four children. I am also a respite worker; I have experience with children who have special needs and learning disabilities, including autism and dyslexia. I was responsible for picking 3-4 children up from school (aged 2-13), driving them to and from after-school activities, like football and art classes, entertaining them and providing them with nutritional snacks, bath time, story time/guided meditation and putting them to bed. In 2019, I stayed in Switzerland, where I learned some German and looked after three children aged 9 months, 10 and 13. I was responsible for planning and preparing mid-day, snack and night-time meals. I took care of the baby during the day with sensory play, feeding her bottles and preparing meat, vegetable and fruit purées, putting her down for naps, changing her and bathing her. After school, I observed the older children’s practice of musical instruments and homework completion. I also drove them to after school activities (dance, music, ice skating and acting classes) and did the weekly food shopping.
