I am 18 years old and have just finished my alevel at st Gregory’s sixth form. This year I am taking a year out where I am wanting to work, and ideally I want to spend that time looking after children. I love spending time with children, enjoy playing games and preparing meals for them. I have a younger brother who is now aged 12, but I use to enjoy organising birthday or Halloween parties for him and his friends. For two years I have worked at tonbridge school in the catering department where I still work part time but only Wednesdays 5-7, Saturdays 2-7:30 and Sundays 8:30-2:30. When I am not working there I am not doing anything else so am happy to help out anytime. For 2 1/2 years I volunteered at a after school club called girls brigade. It was every Friday after school and the children were in years 1, 2 and 3, the club would go on for roughly 3 hours. As a leader I would be assigned 6 children that I would be responsible for looking after through out the evening, this would consist of doing cooking with them, crafts and games. In the past I have also looked after family friends children or peoples children who knew me through them. I stopped babysitting for a while as I wanted to focus on the last year of school.
