I have been babysitting since I was a child myself. I’ve babysat cousins, siblings, friends of the family and families I didn’t know in advance. I have also worked at an after school club for 4 years, and worked as manager of the same after school club for a year. The after school club had up to 70 children aged 6-11, and I would lead drama club, arts and crafts, football and just play. In addition to this I’ve worked as an Au Pair for about a year, and I’ve worked at a primary school as a pupil support assistant. I think the reason why children really like me is that while I’m positive, happy and outgoing, I am also calm. I will listen to them, see them and I genuinely care. Even if this means listening to hours of chat about video games! A parent once told me that they felt safe knowing I was there to watch their children, and that the children were always so excited that I was coming over that they didn’t feel anxious about the parents being away for the evening. I’m planning to train as a Primary Teacher, but not until September 2023. I miss working with children, and would love to work as a babysitter again. I’m free all day Friday - Sunday, and available weekday afternoons/evenings.
