Growing up I looked after my younger cousin who was unfortunately separated from his parents at the young age of 4. I quickly became an older sister to him by playing with him, helping him with his homework and trying to be a good role model for him. When I was in primary seven I volunteered to be a buddy for the new primary one students in the school and helped them make friends and being there for them when they needed someone. I then went to high school where I volunteered for a workshop where myself and a few others were teaching young people about what F.A.R.E. was all about. In my last year of high school, I was in a young enterprise group in which we made our product a children’s book about raising awareness of dementia to children in an appropriate manner. My boyfriend also has a lot of younger siblings which I have had the pleasure of meeting and taking care of on many occasions! I have babysat for his parents with six children in the house ranging from ages 1 to 14. With responsibilities of light housework, cooking for them, entertaining them, helping with chores and homework and then making sure they’re ready for bed and helping the younger ones to sleep by reading books etc.
