I'm an actress and filmmaker based in London. I recently spent 2 years living in New York working as a babysitter and nanny for three families based in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I'm still very good friends with the families and often go back to visit them. Duties included: School drop-offs, errands for the mothers during the day, school pick-ups, arranging/chaperoning play-dates, preparing meals, tidying and cleaning the kitchen, helping kids with homework and also bath time/ bedtime stories. Looking after small children has been one of the most challenging but also rewarding jobs I've had. Kids can be fierce (especially New Yorkers!) but ultimately they’re vulnerable and impressionable and every moment can prove to be an important learning experience.
