Following my sister's return to work at the end of her maternity leave, I moved to Jersey in September 2019 to nanny for my (then) 10 month old nephew. Having had no prior experience of babies, I quickly navigated those waters to find how utterly amazing it is to care for a child. Living with my sister and my nephew meant I got to understand the love, devotion and time it takes to look after children, and is something I have truly come to appreciate. I nannied from 8-5 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays as well as Friday mornings. My sister finished working at the end of march and had another little boy in May, which then meant I got to experience life with a newborn. As newborns require lots of time and attention, I continued nannying solely for my elder nephew in the mornings, and went out together with my sister and the two boys in the afternoon. I would often look after my baby nephew whilst the other was asleep and my sister was getting some rest, which meant I got to experience lots of one to one time with the baby.
