I am nineteen, friendly and practical with a great sense of humour. I have just finished my GCSEs. Due to illness, I missed a few years of school but I have now caught up. I have high functioning autism and whilst some people might see this as negative, I see it as a positive. Whilst I don’t have a wealth of experience, I do have experience looking after younger cousins. I get on really well with young children and I really enjoy chatting and playing with them. I have experience with special needs and I have high functioning autism which is an advantage because I can deal with life on a practical level. I find my autism helps me to connect with younger people. In my experience of looking after my younger cousins, I have enjoyed teaching them how to play new games, learning the alphabet, adding simple sums. We have explored in the garden looking for flowers that start with different letters of the alphabet and playing football. I have helped them with homework and listened to them read. I don’t have a DBS check but I am happy to get one. I am also happy to get a qualification in paediatric first aid.
