I’ve grown up with a large extended family consisting of many younger children who I love spending time with and babysitting as much as possible. I live at home with my mum, dad and younger sister. We stay in Davidson’s Mains where I have lived my whole life, I currently am going into my 3rd year at Napier university studying criminology. Whilst I was in my final year at high school I looked after a down syndrome girl every Tuesday and Thursday after school where I was responsible for making her dinner and taking her to and from karate lessons as well as assisting with her homework. I used to babysit two girls aged 9 and 13 regularly on Friday evenings when their mum and dad would go out. I really enjoyed this as I would bake with them or play board games to keep them entertained. I have also volunteered at my old primary school Davidson’s Mains for a week where I was with a primary 2 class, this was a great experience which I loved as I was left responsible to take groups of 4-6 pupils out of the class to assist with their reading. I found it very rewarding being able to help the children and teacher as much as I could. I find it very easy to build a rapport with children and make sure they feel comfortable around me.
