About Freya
23 years old
My mother is a key worker in a shop and my stepdad works nights this meant I grew up looking after my younger brother. This includes feeding and changing him. I would take him and his friend to the park as his mum would trust me. she also had a younger son who was very excited. My first placement is at School, which is a school for children with additional needs, I was working in a class with children aged approximately 5-7 years old. There are many different disabilities in the class such as Down syndrome me and autism. Most children used card to help them communicate however there was a child unable to communicate. There were also two children able to talk simple words and little sentences. this placement has taught me how to cope with children who have additional needs. After my time I knew all the children very well with the things they liked and disliked. Due to most of them having autism routine was very important this meant I went in every time. I observed the other teachers using sign language, Makaton and braille however sign language is a skill I wish to carry on and develop. confident. Pt toddlers had children ranging from 0-3.
