During my gap year, I spent three months working for VSO with children ages 4-16 in Cambodia. I was part of an educational programme where I taught English, life skills and career guidance. I also provided extra curricular activities which included team games and sporting events which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Although this was a challenging role, I enjoyed it immensely and loved working closely with the children and their families. Over the summer period, 2018, I was a Team Leader for the National Citizen Service (NCS). The role of team leader involved supporting and guiding fifteen 16 year olds through a range of activities. I held responsibility for them for 4 weeks, two of which were in a residential environment. Again, this is an experience I valued and enjoyed. I also have a lot of experience working with young adults with special needs as I have been a carer for over two years.
