I have been nannying in bristol for a year now, which I do between my medical school studies. During term time I look after 2 families on different days of the week, one of 2 girls age 8 and 10 and the other age 2 and 5. This entails picking the girls up to and from school, lifting them to after school clubs, helping with homework and playing / chatting! For the second younger family, I lift between nursery or school back home, often in the car or we scooter home! I love cooking dinner for the children, and help with bath time and bedtime routines, often staying late to babysit overnight. I love babysitting, and have been doing so for my younger cousins for many years. Nannying this year has consolidated my love for working with children as well as sparking my interest for paediatric medicine, a field which I will experience during my placement this year! As a medical student, I am confident in overlooking children’s health and seeing to first aid when needed. I plan to continue looking after my current two families when term time recommences, but am keen to continue nannying throughout the school holidays as well.
