When I started at the nursery I was employed as a baby room apprentice. Whilst in my role I progressed my knowledge and worked through my level 2 and 3 childcare qualifications. In doing this I learnt to manage my time and prioritise my work. During my time in this employment I have progressed my career and now hold the position of Baby Room Leader. Although this role is very similar in terms of the childcare, I am now responsible for a small team and all planning and provision of learning. I support the management team and provide cover whilst the team are on holiday. This job entails answering phone calls, managing the diary and making appointments, answering and sending emails and supervising all staff on site. I use Microsoft office programs, particularly word and excel, as well as email daily. I am also responsible for the safeguarding of all staff and children, food hygiene and the lead person for first aid incidents. Working in the management cover role provides me with many opportunities to work in a more administration based role with a focus on the service users and contact with them primarily.
