I’m 19, I’ve just taken a gap year as an au pair in France, looking after a baby & toddler, aged 3 months & 3 years when I arrived. Sometimes up to 15 hours & overnight. I have volunteered with children through 2 charities- Cheshire buddies & Friends For Leisure where I helped run clubs for kids of all ages with different disabilities which included a nursery group. I have baby sat for family friends kids several times & at sixth form was a peer mentor. I have had 2 weeks work experience, 1 week at a mainstream & 1 at a SEN primary school. I tutored maths once a week for about a year & helped teach maths, reading & art in younger years classes at school. I’ve done a first aid course & online courses in autism awareness & child safeguarding. I had a job helping look after a 5 year old autistic girl for a couple hours a week for 6 months. I worked as bank staff at little angels nurseries last summer. Friends & family describe me as kind, considerate & selfless. I love helping & caring for others & plan to be a teacher after studying SEN & education studies at university. My hobbies include arts & crafts, walking, cooking & baking.
