Ever since I can remember, I have known that children will be a big part of my life. I started babysitting in 2002. Children open up to me almost immediately. They trust me and talk to me because I can relate to them and their world and their imagination. I have just noticed that every child is different and they all need to be spoken to and cared for differently. They all have their own background and story. It takes time to figure out what goes on in a child's mind and take my time to listen and try to understand why a child is the way he or she is. Then I try to work out what I can do to make their lives easier and better. I know that I have to offer lots of praise. Helping children to try things that seem hard, but with a little help, support and a lot of praise, they can achieve, can be very rewarding. A child that has accomplished something will have a higher self-esteem and will try to start work that might be a bit more challenging on his own more often.
