I currently work as a practitioner in a private day nursery. Working with children aged between 18 months and 4 years. My role is to provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children. I ensure I meet the children’s needs and interests by keeping development records and learning journeys. This is shared with parent and carers. I communicate effectively with my colleagues and parents, which maintains a strong partnership between both parties. My work is underpinned by GIRFEC, the Curriculum for Excellence and the SHANNARI principles. I promote literacy and numeracy skills by creating activities which engage the children. I promote their social skills by encouraging sharing and appropriate interaction. I supported their development of language and understanding by encouraging them to think and explain their feelings.
