I have two beautiful nieces, they’re 5 and 2 years old. On a regular basis I will babysit them which involves; preparing meals, help with potty training/nappy changes and getting involved with play. In my high school years I spent a few weeks being a nursery assistant, getting involved with mealtimes, playtime and also watching out for the children’s well-being. I’ve discontinued my Physician Associate masters, but during that time I would often take a history and examine a wide variety of children in a GP. I always found children more fun to interact with and connect with. They were sometimes very distressed and I had to find creative ways of helping them understand, distract and reassure. As a result, I believe I have a calming nature and I can get on a child’s level to play imaginatively. Additionally, I’m first aid trained. Before looking after your children, I will always ask you your approach to their routine and how you would like things to be done! So that there is as much consistency for the child/ren between us.
