I’m an 18 year old female. i was originally studying education and childcare at college where i worked at peter pan nursery along side for placement. My main responsibilities were keeping the children safe and helping them develop, the children i worked with at peter pan were children who had additional needs or a disability, which means most were non verbal so relied on communicating completely through non-verbal communication. This also meant they relied on there senses (hear,smell,touch) to connect with other things and other people. I would make them lunch, set up activities, take part in outside activities all which help with there development and challenge them. I also have experience with main stream children as i worked in blossoms day nursery as well to get main stream experience. However i decided childcare wasn’t a long term career for me even though i enjoyed it thoroughly however i would still love to be able to make a difference in children’s lives on the side of me learning in another industry.
