In 2021, I worked as a teaching assistant for children in special needs schools. I went between primary aged kids to nursery. I enjoyed doing this and found this so rewarding. I currently work in residential childcare in southampton. I love this even more. Every day is never the same at work. We are primarily the children/ young people's caregivers. My role involves meeting their basic needs everyday i.e cooking/ teaching them to cook, encouraging them to look after their hygiene and school drop off and picking up. We also, on weekends, plan activities with them like flip out, swimming, cinema, etc. Currently I volunteer for a family and children’s charity called spurgeons within Winchester prison. It is such a rewarding job and I mostly help the families and especially the children engage with dad being held at the prison. I recently organised an activity for the family day which was a treasure hunt. The children seemed to really enjoy this and was so engaging for both adults and children.
