I used to volunteer at the Local Youth Club with children ranging from 7-11, before the Youth Club was taken over. Not only did I give up time to help the local community, I had to take into consideration different ages and understand what would best suit them. Giving back to the local community really made me feel proud of what I was achieving.
I play Netball on a weekly basis both training and in competitions. This requires team work, commitment and making timely and accurate decisions to reach a shared aim
I enjoy going to the gym and pushing myself to reach my own set goals. Once the goal has been reached I set a further goal to keep challenging myself. Whilst at the gym I take part in classes to help push myself, but to also help and encourage others to reach their goals. An example of this was when I took part in a 10k obstacle course (Wolf Run) and encouraged others to keep going, sticking together as a tight team.
Finally I used to tutor GCSE Maths. I worked with pupils struggling to reach their potential at KS4 and guided them through new learning, mock papers and the real exam. It was vital I was patient with people and finding new ways for people to understand problems (problem solving).
