| Hi there! My name is Kai and I am a postgraduate student at University of Exeter's Penryn campus. I am from the US and coming here to study climate change and community resilience. Throughout the four years of my undergraduate degree I was a babysitter for three families and this pass summer I was full-time nanny for a family of four. I have a depth of childcare experiences as a substitute nursery school assistant, summer camp counsellor, and youth football assistant coach spanning from children ages 2-15. | Being an older sister I’ve spent my life looking after my siblings and also have a few years experience in babysitting for our neighbours young children. Following this, I have had a number of jobs working with children including working as a gymnastics coach, volunteering in a children’s hospital and working for 2 years in a nursery with children aged 6 months to 4 years old. I am well experienced in many aspects of child care including changing nappies, bed and nap times, preparing food, cleaning and most importantly ensuring the children are happy. Additionally I have just graduated with a First Class Honour’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies which has given me a great insight into meaningful play, children’s holistic development and providing nurturing care.

| Following my sister's return to work at the end of her maternity leave, I moved to Jersey in September 2019 to nanny for my (then) 10 month old nephew. Having had no prior experience of babies, I quickly navigated those waters to find how utterly amazing it is to care for a child. Living with my sister and my nephew meant I got to understand the love, devotion and time it takes to look after children, and is something I have truly come to appreciate. I nannied from 8-5 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays as well as Friday mornings. My sister finished working at the end of march and had another little boy in May, which then meant I got to experience life with a newborn. As newborns require lots of time and attention, I continued nannying solely for my elder nephew in the mornings, and went out together with my sister and the two boys in the afternoon. I would often look after my baby nephew whilst the other was asleep and my sister was getting some rest, which meant I got to experience lots of one to one time with the baby.

| I have taken care of children as a Red Cross volunteer (at orphanages, I taught them first-aid techniques and entertained them in different playing activities. I also held workshops where they could express themselves creatively). I have two younger brothers that I took care of as well. I have a sense of humor and I enjoy spending my time with kids.

| I have worked as at a cafe for four years meaning I know my way around a kitchen and have done hygiene training. I am a student at the moment which means most of my nights and some late afternoons are free, while in secondary school i was a prefect which meant one of my jobs was to look out for the younger students and help them if needed I received multiple headteacher and year leader recognition certificates for my work. I have babysat before by going to someone's house as well as looked after some friends younger siblings on days out. I am on an acting course so energy is something I have to have. Plus if you have any mermaid fans out there I am a certified mermaid.

| My name is Evie- whilst I have no professional experience as a child carer, through secondary school I was a mentor for younger students, particularly those who were struggling with anxiety or labelled as “troubled”.

| I have always loved working with kids and spent three years volunteering with the rda, an organisation who teaches special needs, primary school children to ride as well as often taking care of friends younger siblings and odd babysitting jobs here and there. I am very patient, have good communication skills and am a quick learner and a good listener. I am kind and caring and often seek to help those around me. I also have a good understanding of nutrition and am good at keeping spaces tidy and clean. I enjoy reading and am very creative therefore will be able to entertain children if need be.

| I don’t have exact child caring experience, but I have previously worked as a dance assistant where I helped teach and take care of children from the ages of 3 to around 7/8. I have always loved children and have always seen myself as a mother in the future. I am currently a university student in Bristol studying photography and have a lot of love for arts and crafts so can come up with some fun activities to do with children! I am 21 and live in the Penryn area, sadly I don’t drive but I am very happy to travel wherever needed!
