Mum’s care needs in detail. She is a really friendly, chatted and physically able 75 year. Very independent but really nice. She just gets a bit confused and needs to be gentle helped out without her knowing about. - someone to come in at first 2/3 times a week and take her out into Malton or on trips. Increasing to 5 times a week if it worked out.  - this must be in the morning from 9am until after lunch. Mum hates not going out every morning. She’ll simply will not be home unless it can happen from 9am. Someone doing school drop off could be perfect.  - outings to include getting money from the bank machine, going for coffee, taking her shopping and then bringing her home for lunch.  - the carer would also make sure mum’s flat is in order. We have a cleaner so not hours of scrubbing. Rather helping to manage the flat. Does she need loo roll? Coffee etc? Are her clothes washed. - the carer would also take mum to appointments. Dentist, opticians, flu jab etc.   - if it goes well trips would be great. Say Castle Howard? Or to see old friends etc.  - the carer would be casually dressed so not in uniform.  - someone to remind mum of family visits. When people came and when people are coming. Look at photos etc.  - Someone who can put an old movie on for mum. On DVD are the Firestick. Some more info on the carer. As I said mum is quite opinionated and it would simply not work with someone she didn’t like. The carer ideally would be… - a women - over 35 - educated and well read. Mum loves books and this would be a great discussion point.  - have a car (not a deal breaker).  - I think mum needs someone who is a friend. That she doesn’t know is a carer but will still know how to talk to someone with dementia. Not disagreeing with her and keeping her happy.  This all makes mum out to be quite tough and she can be but if we can find the right person she will love it and I think it will be hugely beneficial for her. Mum potters along quite nicely most days but if there is anything in particular to do on a day (dentist etc) she goes to pieces and finds it very stressful.
