Elderly Care Jobs in Deal

Hi, We are in the early stages of looking for temporary (4-6 weeks initially, but potential to increase) live-in care for an independent lady in her mid 70s who is about to undergo a replacement hip operation. She is disabled, but has the use of the right side of her body so has a fair level of independence including washing self, dressing, cooking and driving. It's expected that post-operatively there will be a period where a much higher level of support will be needed that will include some personal care (help in and out of shower, dressing) and preparation of meals, support with medication and typical housework jobs such as emptying dishwasher, clothes washing, light cleaning, putting away shopping etc. We are ideally looking for someone to be on-site for the majority of the day and night - primarily to act as a level of safety, especially getting in and out of bed, but not expected to be on-call 24 hours a day. The property is set in a bungalow with a pleasant wrap-around garden and decking, is fully accessible in all rooms, and will have a profiling bed in the main bedroom. A separate room with double bed, clothes storage, digital TV is available - as is a separate bath and shower. Provision can be made for meals - or an allowance per week for carers' own food can be agreed. The home has two dogs (a dacschund and a labrador/staffordshire terrier) who would be taken for walks separately by a dog walker who visits regularly. It's possible that these dogs, certainly for the first few weeks, would live off-site to reduce the risk of trips as Mum gets used to being mobile again, but would likely visit - so would be beneficial if the carer is comfortable with being around animals. Generally, the rest of the time is fairly low-key, with most of it spent watching TV. With regards to start date - we haven't been told a definitive date as yet, but are anticipating spring/early summer with hopefully 6 weeks notice. Ideal carer would be someone with experience of working with people with physical needs and/or post-operative personal care. We very much look forward to hearing from you.
