My parents are becoming very immobile and the risk of a fall is ever present. My mother has dementia and should not be left home alone. My father, who is her carer, now requires additional help managing every day tasks, specifically: - helping my mother in and out of the shower to make sure she doesn’t fall. A daily one hour visit would be ideal. - help putting the bins out and sorting the recycling three or four times a week as part of a daily visit. - in addition, help preparing meals once or twice a week to give my father a break; this might entail bringing a meal to them which has been prepared at home. - ad hoc help getting my mother to hospital appointments; either a ‘full transport service’ or supporting my father in getting her ready and out of the house into a taxi. - ad hoc sitting service when my father has to go out for appointments. This is a 4-5 month post as we are now looking at moving my parents to be closer to family, where we can support them more easily. As such we require someone with good references and preferably DBS checked. My mother responds well to someone with a cheerful disposition who has some experience with dementia. Hi I have arthritis and this makes getting up a bit hard. I need help getting dressed and having a wash. Some days I need a bit of shopping and some housekeeping . This works out as 2 hours in the morning and 30 mins in the evening just to make sure I have a cup of tea and to heat up some food. 4 times a year I need more care as my family go away.
