My name is Gregor. I am looking for assistance with my 13-year-old son Callum. We live between Crumlin and Templepatrick (BT29). Callum is 13 years old and has Down syndrome. He is fit and well and has no physical disability, but his learning difficulty is classified as severe. Callum attends Parkview Special School in Lisburn. He has limited speech and needs some assistance with personal care, although, likes to try and be as independent as possible. He has no sense of danger and can be extremely impulsive. He is stubborn, strong, but is extremely loving. I have been going through the divorce process for some time now and final child arrangements have still to be agreed. I have a younger son, and Callum a brother. Harry is 10 years old. At the moment I am not seeing Harry but anticipate that this will change in the future. I am contacting you because I need some help to facilitate my father/son relationship with Callum while fitting in my work arrangements. I would anticipate that this would involve 8-10hrs of help per week, but also some potential ad hoc arrangements depending on your availability. The role would initially involve approximately 2 hours for 1-2 morning per week and 1 or 2 afternoons per week of 3-4 hours. Responsibilities would involve assisting getting Callum ready and taking him to school 1-2 days a week. Collecting him from school 1 day a week and helping with his needs until I returned from work that evening. Ideally, Callum and I would like to develop a long-term working relationship with one person. I need someone reliable, punctual, flexible, friendly and caring. They would need to have a car and be happy to use it facilitating the role with Callum. Experience with special needs or learning difficulties would be desirable but not essential.
