| Hello! I am a 34-year-old woman, living in Park-Ex. I have a gentle and motivating approach as a shadow, and am adaptable to learning specific educational activities tailored to the child's needs. I also provide meal preparation and assistance with eating, as well as personal hygienic care. My experience primarily comes from having a younger sibling with special needs, specifically with Angelman Sydrome as well as on the spectrum of autism. | Hello! My name is Delaney. I just finished up my BA in psychology with a minor in education at Concordia University. I’m currently taking a year off and hoping to begin graduate school in 2021. Here’s a quick summary of my experience in special needs: Over the summer of 2017, I worked as paraprofessional at a summer school program where I provided 1:1 support to a grade 1 student. In the spring of 2017, I was given a long-term (~1 month) substitute teaching job as a middle school paraprofessional. During that time I worked closely with teens who had challenges ranging from minor behavioural issues, to autism, ADHD, persistent depressive disorder, and ODD. Over the summer of 2018, I worked at a residence for adults living with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders. Most notably, I was trained in administering medication. Last summer (2019) I worked as a special needs camp counselor at the YM-YWHA’s inclusive summer camp. Over the past year, I have been helping to facilitate various programs at the Y. | I am a 29 year old university graduate with a degree in Gender Studies from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. Recently moved to Montreal and hoping to continue my work supporting individuals with disabilities. My experience includes working with individuals who are non verbal, on the autism and aspbergers spectrums, have cerebral palsy, microcephaly, seizure disorders, non specified mobility and language issues, various mental health diagnoses such as ADHD, anxiety and psychosis, among others. I am trained in medication administration, support with meals, j-tube and g-tube feeds, external catheterization and other personal care such as toileting and brief changes. I have some use of American Sign Language and would like to learn more, and have developed competency in learning alternative communication methods depending on an individuals needs. I also have experience working with children with behavioural struggles such as oppositional defiance disorder. Hoping to bring my skills and experience and enthusiasm to the workplace and do what I love, which is supporting and engaging people and seeing them blossom.

I did my first and second internship in a school with children with special needs such as autism, intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, etc. where i had the opportunity to build a trust relationship with the kids, learn from all of them and have a meaningful experience that gives me motivation to keep going on this special path I chose.
