Hello! My name is Delaney. I just finished up my BA in psychology with a minor in education at Concordia University. I’m currently taking a year off and hoping to begin graduate school in 2021. Here’s a quick summary of my experience in special needs: Over the summer of 2017, I worked as paraprofessional at a summer school program where I provided 1:1 support to a grade 1 student. In the spring of 2017, I was given a long-term (~1 month) substitute teaching job as a middle school paraprofessional. During that time I worked closely with teens who had challenges ranging from minor behavioural issues, to autism, ADHD, persistent depressive disorder, and ODD. Over the summer of 2018, I worked at a residence for adults living with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders. Most notably, I was trained in administering medication. Last summer (2019) I worked as a special needs camp counselor at the YM-YWHA’s inclusive summer camp. Over the past year, I have been helping to facilitate various programs at the Y.
