I spent 3 years taking care of a lovely lady with advanced MS. I made use of a mechanical sling lift to help her out of and into bed and for showering purposes. I did all personal hygiene tasks as she was effectively paralyzed and in a wheelchair. I prepared meals, ran errands, and did light housekeeping. I also spoke on her behalf on the phone as her voice was not always reliable. I took notes on medications and care plans on behalf of family members. We became fast friends. It was the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I also have some experience with palliative care/companionship with family members that have passed as well as some experience with dementia/Alzheimer’s with some family members.
