Senior Care in Dundas

| I am looking for a position where I can make a difference in others lives, and help those who are truly in need. I am a Natural Nutrition Health Coach and work part time at the Guelph General Hospital in Nutrition Services. I realized that I would be a great fit for an elderly companion position because I thoroughly enjoy spending time with elders and helping them with their day-to-day tasks. I have gained bonds between elderly patients at the hospital because I have such a soft spot for them. There are many patients at the hospital with early dementia, or Alzheimer’s and they are very confused. I like to keep them company on breaks and for a short time after my shifts, take them on walks with me, sit and play games, or just simply have a conversation with them to keep them company. It is when they are lonely that they panic, and get upset. My nutrition background is also a major asset because I can make nutritious meals according to their needs. I most definitely can separate my personal and professional relationships, but I care for them as if they are my own family. Besides the hospital, I have volunteered in Dundas taking patients to and from their rooms, to appointments, activities, and meals.

| I have been a homemaker for my family for 20 years, occasionally working as a nanny. I helped take care of my father-in-law at his home when he became bedridden at the age of 92. Duties included: feeding, changing soiled depends and sheets, meal preparation, grocery shopping, liaison and advocate with healthcare agencies. I currently help my parents as needed…mainly dog walking and driving to healthcare appointments.
