The developmental stage is so important and my degree in youth and child care / human development really helped me understand how crucial these stages are. For over 8 years now I have been a homework tutor primarily for children ages 10-15, assisting with homework and testing needs. I believe in a gentle tutoring approach, tailoring the tutoring to each child's individual needs with how they best learn. I work at their pace & level keeping a calm and low pressure environment to ensure success! I have been a babysitter since the age of 14, and have also travelled with local families who needed reliable childcare when abroad! | Hi! I recently moved to Kelowna for a job with a local post-secondary institute. I have 3 years of experience teaching english as a second language to students aged 4-16 and 2 years experience as the Executive Director of a youth centre in a remote Indigenous community. I don't have children myself and live with my dog, Blue, and two cats named Jon Snow and Jack Frost. I'm looking for a care-giving role because I know that I have the skills to contribute positively to children's daily life; appreciate how difficult it must for families to manage childcare nowadays; and am looking for flexible part-time work in addition to my full-time role. I won't exaggerate with a line about how children are my passion and I just love spending time with them, because honestly I did not continue down a teacher's path for a reason. But - I am fun and kids like me because I treat them as the whole little humans they are (as opposed to baby talk) and genuinely do enjoy getting to know a child - they always have the most creative ideas and come up with the best questions. I think that I could be a really good fit for the right family and situation; I'd be happy to answer any further questions! I am available evenings, overnight and weekends.

| I used to babysit for family and friends in the small town I grew up in and many times that included overnight stays aswell, I also worked in a daycare for about a year and I loved that job! I am good with multiple kids at once and love to do fun activities like crafts, or play games. I also love pets and they would be no problem to me!

I’m the eldest of four girls (my dad really wanted a boy!) and I’m fourteen years older than my youngest sister so I have lots of experience taking care of infants, only not professionally. Growing up in kettle valley, many neighbors needed childcare and I wanted to be their go-to pick. I got my license, taught myself to cook simple, safe meals and packed my favorite crafts and games. It’s been years since then and my time with those kids are still some of my favorite memories! I took a long break from providing child care to focus on a career in customer service, administration and sales. Working in an office and in a sales setting has made me realize just how much I miss what I used to do! I love being around high-energy individuals bursting with creativity and an enthusiasm for life, it’s healing for the soul.  I’m happy to stay late or for overnight shifts. I have experience working for a local cleaning company and enjoy tidying as the kids nap or are at school. I can shop for you, schedule your appointments, water your plants, walk your dog, meal prep, organize your clothes, you name it! I’m really looking to be as much help as possible, I love keeping busy.

| I am an experienced childcarer with a passion for educating children! I was an overnight camp leader for 3+ years where I mainly taught campers about nature and the wonderful world around us. I was also a nanny in Montreal for several months, where I prepared meals, maintained the house, and tutored Math, French, and English. I have recently moved back to the Okanagan after over a decade in Montreal, so I am fully bilingual in French and English, and can provide language tutoring if needed.

| I have previous experience doing on-call work for families with multiple children in their household from pre-school age and up. I have also spend many summers working for a summer camp taking care of children overnight for week long periods, ages ranging from 6 - 16 years of age. Along with this I have also been the cook at this summer camp giving me lots of experience cooking for young children. I have my license and a very safe vehicle for any pick-ups and drop-offs required.
