This position is full-time and involves assisting a PhD student who has a physical disability with completing their work activities within a professional setting. As such, candidates may be requested to meet certain requirements for the position that may arise due to the students work commitments (e.g., criminal record check, confidentiality agreements, etc.). The position start date is flexible but is planned to start late summer/early September and to last for the academic year, with the possibility of extending this position further into the future.
Qualifications and other requirements:
• Valid drivers license and must be someone who is a confident driver
• Must be responsible and dependable
• Must be comfortable in a professional setting
• Must be willing to work flexible hours (to be discussed further in an interview with selected applicants, but may include flexible hours during the day/evening/weekend that fit both parties schedules).
General Responsibilities:
• Assist with mobility and transportation (walking, driving students’ wheelchair van).
• Assist with educational tasks, such as printing, photocopying, and organizing materials.
• Assist with carrying personal belongings, books, folders, materials for the student.
• Assist with professional and research activities in a hospital/clinic or other professional settings
• Assist the student during meal time
• Assist with appointments and meetings
• Have fun and learn!

Former college teacher (middle - aged female with MS) is seeking part-time Personal Care Worker(s) to assist with activities of daily living such as mobility (transfers, positioning, ROM), personal care, and home care in her Clayton Park home. Particularly interested in applicants available for Monday, Thursday, and Friday suppers and alternate Friday and Saturday mornings.
This is a non-smoking work environment.
Hour of Work: Morning - 8:00 am – 12:30 pm - 4.5 hours Supper - 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm - 2 hours Evening - 9:00 pm – 10:30 pm - 1.5 hours
Shifts required Monday to Sunday (inclusive) including holidays. Shifts will be shared among a team of personal care workers.
Qualifications: Personal care aid experience an asset. Formal CCA training or equivalent preferred but not necessary. CCA/ healthcare students are encouraged to apply. Caregivers must: • be able to lift while performing pivot transfers • be able to perform duties using proper body mechanics • be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English • be reliable, punctual, dependable, trustworthy, and flexible • be able to work independently • have valid criminal record and vulnerability checks
Description of Duties: 1. Assisting with mobility by lifting, transferring, positioning 2. Performing ROM and strength training exercises as directed by physiotherapist 3. Assisting with dressing/undressing, bathing/showering, toileting, grooming, and medications 4. Performing light household duties including meal preparation
Looking for care 2 to 4 days a week from 9:30 am to 6:30pm (Mondays through Thursdays).

I live alone with my daughter, J. She is 22 years old with Autism and Epilepsy. The epilepsy is mostly controlled by medications but she does have a seizure every 5-6 weeks and has no lasting effect from it, other than fatigue. The job involves meal prep, tidying up after and her laundry and dishes. The wage is $180 a month, no receipts.
Respite on weekends/evenings 2-3 times per month for our 22 year old special needs daughter.
