Hi,
In addition to possessing a Master of Speech-Pathology degree and university training in nursing, I am certified in first aid and CPR.
I possess nine years of experience as a speech-language pathologist in aged care. In this role, my training and experience included:
• Providing communication therapy
• Assisting with personal care and developing meal plans
• Providing companionship and emotional support
• Counseling family on communication and optimal feeding strategies
• Using equipment to assist people with limited mobility such as wheelchairs, swivel cushions and hoists
• Creating social events to enhance the communication skills of clients
In 2018, as a trainee nurse at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, I used clinical skills to enhance the quality of life of older people assigned to my care.
Highlights of my experience includes:
• Providing mealtime assistance, washing/grooming, mobility and companionship.
• Providing emotional support for people following stroke and surgery.
• Utilising knowledge of medical conditions and services to assist in administering medications, treatments, and procedures to patients.
• Monitoring vital signs.
