| I am currently enrolled in Certificate III in Individual Support . Prior to taking up the course, I took care of an 89-year-old man for almost 4 months before he died. He is known to have a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which later complicated and resulted to further illnesses like pneumonia, stroke, and kidney failure. Due to his disabling illnesses, I was the one who provided personal care like bed bath, changing his diaper, dressing him up and feeding; monitoring his vital signs; positioning; and preparing and administering his medications. Meanwhile, I am a registered nurse in the Philippines and worked as a hospital nurse for almost 2 years. As a staff nurse, I was able to provide bedside/personal care; provide health teaching, and perform nursing procedures like enema, wound dressing, enteral feedings, medication administration, urinary catheter insertion, etc. With all the experiences from being a hospital nurse and a private duty nurse/personal carer, It is always fulfilling to witness my clients' progress towards wellness and relieved/alleviated from their discomforts.
