| I have been caring for my mother 24/7 for the past 5 yrs. As her carer I performed all tasks required to care for mum on a full time basis. Duties included personal hygiene, dispensing her medications, meal preparation, medical appointments, shopping, laundry and all of her needs. Sadly I lost my mother in January but the joy and great pride I have had caring for her has left me feeling that I achieved and learnt much about looking after seniors in their home environment. I am enrolling to complete a cert lll in Individual Support Home and Community Care but I would like to work while doing this course. With the 5 yrs hands on I have already done, I am looking forward to offering senior home care to families loved ones who wish to stay in their own homes and I have found it to be an extremely rewarding and wonderful career.
