Hi, we are looking for a carer to look after our beautiful non-verbal autistic eight-year-old son. We are looking for flexible hours across public holidays curriculum days, sick days, holidays and some weekend and evening shifts. We are prepared to commit to an equivalent minimum number of hours per week (eg 8+). you would need your own car, working with children check and references . You would also need to have some flexibility I hours. And be happy to go on trains and trams , which he loves! We are in Camberwell. We have two beautiful children. 7 years old and 5 years old. Both are on the spectrum and attend schools in different locations which means we predominantly need someone to pick up On Fridays he would need more care during the day 10am - 4pm as there is no kindergarten on Fridays. Full support and training will be provided by our family’s Positive Behavioral Support Therapist as well.

Our ideal nanny would have childcare qualifications, experience in a childcare, education or special needs (ASD) and an ability to engage our children in activities and happy to get out with the kids. They both love playing with train tracks, going for bike rides, parks/playgrounds and any type of sensorial activity. They also love a good ‘kids’ show on TV and we’re happy after a long week to indulge here and there. There will also be occasional babysitting on weekends and other times during the week (after kinder/daycare hours) as we both work full time and need some extra help every now and then! Our son has 2 x therapy sessions on the Friday (8-9am and 12-1pm) which my husband or I attend with him at home, so the nanny would be required to look after my daughter solo during those times. Other responsibilities: Child-related housework such as tidying toys, putting away their washing, meal preparation, baths and the odd errand. The days/times are: Mon-Fri 1:00pm-3:00pm. There will be an additional 2 hours per month which will be attributed to reviewing objectives with a Supervisor. The therapy sessions will be at school therefore a WWC check is essential. No previous experience is required as training is provided. However, an interest in child psychology would be viewed favourably. The role is based in Hawthorn. Our son is a gentle and kind little boy who enjoys learning.
