Experienced Child Care Professional

(1)
I currently work for Boy's and Girl's Club of Kentuckiana and recently worked at Uspiritus Bellewood with children in a residential treatment facility. I am trained in the Boys' Town Psycho-Educational model of behavior modification and Safe Crises Management. I am also current on my CPR and First Aid training as well as tested negative for TB at the end of October. I am looking for work to allow me to study for my GRE and prepare for graduate school in the fall of 2015 or in 2016. While attending the University of Louisville, I was an intern in charge of the 0-4-year-old group to care for the youngest children in our Resilient Families Project program. After graduating with my degree in Psychology, I have worked at the Clark County Youth Shelter and the Uspiritus Bellewood campus caring for children who are typically wards of the state. I also spent 6 months as a brain trainer at Learning Rx where I encouraged cognitive brain development with children ages 8-18. I have a firm background in positive reinforcement techniques with children to create a positive and nurturing environment. I have also worked directly with behavior modification focusing on compassionate forms of conditioning. I am a strong believer in education and healthy activities to encourage a lifetime of growth for the youth I work with. Reading, physical activity, exploration, educational activities, and positive structure are all things I strive to help children enjoy doing in hopes they will want to continue doing them on their own. With me, you are not simply getting a "babysitter." I am a trained caregiver that can focus on the stage of development of your child. My patient and positive demeanor will bring your family a calm atmosphere in which your child can learn and grow the necessary skills (psychological and motor) for their stage of life. Experience: Resilient Families Project: 2+ years Uspiritus: 7 months Clark County Youth Shelter: 9 months Learning Rx: 6 months Boy's and Girl's Club of Kentuckiana: <1 month Other experience: While not professionally, I have cared for children much of my life. I am one of 6 children and have cared for younger siblings, family, and the children of my friends. I want to make a difference in the lives of children and in how we care for children. We can always learn to do things better, so why not take that philosophy to how we care for our children? I also happen to be a military veteran who lives our core values everyday (Integrity, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All I Do). Finally, I spent a year working as an intern at a non-profit which trains service dogs for people which physical disabilities (I am very comfortable and good with pets; will train some as part of my job duties).
