Hi, I'm Kate! Since moving from Chicago to the PNW, I don't have the extensive network of young families I am used to.. so I am turning to Care. Com to connect me with the right family! I moved to SE PDX a year ago to be a rep for a pharmaceutical/non-profit. I found myself disenchanted by the direction my career took (sales! yikes!) so I'm currently on a sabbatical, of sorts, figuring out what to pursue next. As the development and flourishing of children is my JAM, I'm looking to find one or two lovely families I can devote my current time and energy to during the weekday, after school, date nights, travel, etc. Prior to my sales/marketing stint, I spent 10 years working with 12-18-year-olds in wilderness therapy, a residential home, court, and schools from the Rockies to the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have experience with EVERY stage and age since birth including *multiples* and children with ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing, Feeding Issues, etc.

I consider myself an engaging and energetic nanny. I make it my priority to provide a safe place for your child to learn, play and develop. Whether your child is an infant or a preteen, I believe it is important to stay engaged with the children I am watching, rather than just turning on the TV. I am interactive and like to help children foster their imagine through play, story telling and crafts. I have experience watching children of all ages, from 6 weeks to 13 years of age. I am currently in school for my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology-specializing in Children and Adolescents. I am comfortable providing school pick ups, transportation to sports or after school activities, and helping with homework. I have clean driving record wit no tickets. I am CPR certified. Hello! I am a 40-year-old graduate from UCSB with a BA in Psychology. During my studies I concentrated on child development and counseling psychology. I have 18 years of experience working with many different families with multiple children and wide age range from toddlers-to-teens. I also have a 4 years experience with babies 6mo+. I love to cook and have a pastry and cuisine certification from le cordon bleu and want to find a family to be a chef and nanny. I love to involve children with age appropriate reading, arts and crafts, and activities that will help them learn new skills, as well as daily life lessons using communication. I am a 30-year-old 2016 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. At UCSB, I majored in English and minored in both education (with a focus in teacher prep) and applied psychology. I love working with kids and I find joy in being able to help children grow and succeed. Throughout high school I nannied for a family that had two children, ages 5 and 8, in Rancho Bernardo. My nanny job had me working Monday through Friday after school, and I babysat for other families on the weekends. I then nannied for a wonderful family with a 5-year-old boy, 11-year-old girl, and 13-year-old girl after I graduated college and before I entered the corporate world! Hello, my name is Jenna, I am excited to be getting back into childcare full or part-time. I just moved to Ventura, CA and am looking for a new job in the area. I am originally from the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, where I grew up with a single mother who works as a nanny and daycare provider. As the oldest of three children I have grown up surrounded by kids and have helped care for them my entire life, so taking care of them comes naturally for me. I have been babysitting for other families ever since I was 15, giving me over 12 years experience at the age of 28. I moved out to Santa Barbara in July 2005 to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a marine biologist, but soon became more interested in developmental psychology. I ended up getting my Bachelors degree in psychology, with an emphasis in early childhood development from the University of California in Santa Barbara. I did my honors thesis on pregnancy and childbirth; therefore I am very interested and knowledgeable in this area, and would one day. I am also very interested in the arts such as music, painting, drawing, sculpting, dancing, cooking, writing, French and philosophy. I love to travel, read, and go to the beach as often as I can. Most of all I love spending time with children; in fact my life doesn't feel complete without them in it. I have been working with the same family for nearly three years, but now that they only need me once a week, I am ready give my love and care to a new family, while I begin working on my teaching credentials. I hope to find a family that needs me as much as I need them over the next year or two, or until I begin my career as a science or elementary school teacher. I specialize in newborns and infants; but I have experience with children of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and learning abilities. With my years of experience and educational training, I am perfectly capable general infant and childcare including: bottle or meal preparation, feeding, changing clothes and diapers, bathing, massaging, engaging in safe educational play, leading artistic projects, and stimulating cognitive and motor development. Teaching is my passion. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2009 with my B. A. in Psychology and my Masters in Education. For the past 12 years I've taught 2nd and 3rd grade at an amazing charter school in South Los Angeles. I've also worked as a full-time tutor in Sylvan Learning Centers, and privately for students on the Westside. I'm fully trained in Orton Gillingham and employ Science of Reading practices. I specialize in teaching reading, vocabulary, and fluency skills. I love teaching students how to become more responsible for their own learning and assisting them in staying organized and practicing effective study skills.
