I grew up in Northern California and have over 10 years experience taking care of children. I've worked with toddlers up to about 13 years of age. I'm fun, creative, intuitive and reliable. You can count on me! I truly love what I do and am continually inspired and moved by the imagination and wonderment of kids. I'm a nature girl and love getting kids outside and taking them to the park. I'm a certified yoga instructor and studied Theater in school. One of my strengths is to be fully present with kids and give them the unconditional love, encouragement and safety to freely express who they truly are. I am a fully credentialed teacher. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from UC Irvine and a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from Cal State Fullerton. I have been working with children and adolescents for approximately 6 years in the classroom and out as a high school teacher, youth leader, dance instructor, and Sunday School/Vacation Bible School leader.

I'm a graduate student currently pursuing my Master's in Library and Information Science, and I've been a nanny for the past 12 years. During and after undergrad I worked as both a live-in nanny and a live-out nanny, but now that I have a "real" job in research it's difficult to continue nannying full-time. I was babysitting here and there for my previous nanny family, but the kids are now reaching an age where they don't need that kind of supervision as much anymore. I love working with children, though, so I'm hoping to branch out and establish a relationship with a new family (or families) for semi-regular or infrequent one-off babysitting. I'm a pro at craft time (see pics!), trips to the library are my secret weapon, and I have an extremely high tolerance for all things Roblox, thanks to repeated exposure. My previous families are located in HB and Newport, respectively, and the adults and children alike would be happy to vouch for me upon request. Hope to talk soon! :)

I am a high energy, self motivated teacher with a sense of humor, personal integrity and creativity. My type of tutoring style is consistent with a very direct, explanatory, illustrative, and nurturing technique. When I meet the child for the first time, I take the time to really identify his or her strengths and weaknesses. I then build on the strengths that the child displays to me, and in turn I begin to tackle the weaknesses. I believe that children learn through positive reinforcement and redirection. If a child sees that you are taking the time to help them, and that you truly believe in them than they will feel confident and through guidance ultimately succeed. I am very patient and I utilize repetition to make the child master the concepts. For example, if I am teaching a child how to read. I go through the first page with the student, breaking down each word phonetically. I sound out each word very slowly. I have the child sound out each word within the sentence after I have provided the correct phonetic sound. Then, I go back and have the child do all of the work by himself. So in essence, I lay the groundwork and have the child build on his or her own strengths gradually. I am patient, and I make the child realize that slow and steady wins the race. If you keep trying and practicing you will master the concept, and in this case learn how to read. I feel that being a teacher is most rewarding due to the fact that you get to witness firsthand a work in progress similar to a work of art. In the beginning you have to develop the trust of a child, once you have that your dedication and time shows that you believe in them, and as their TEACHER you can help them reach their highest potential

Hi! I am senior studying at UC Irvine majoring in sociology and economics. I had 3 years of background in babysitting, and I find great joy in positively impacting children's lives.
