In addition to raising my own two children, I have over eight years of experience caring for children, ages 4 months through 12 years. Five of those years were spent nurturing and educating a 20-month-old girl until she started school full time. She has since moved to upstate New York. I desire part-time work, up to 25 hours a week. I have a dependable car, speak only English, and am willing to provide light housekeeping and errand services along with childcare. I have a master's degree in Education with emphasis in reading and learning disabilities. I also have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I have worked in many career paths over my lifetime, but now I want to semi-retire with part-time child care positions.

I took care of my grandmother who had Alzheimer's and my father who had Parkinson's disease. Since then, I have taken care of many women and men, who have had a variety of needs. I prepare meals, dispense medication, assist with bathing and hygiene, drive and accompany to doctor's appointments, do laundry, accompany to/do food shopping, listen to the same stories over and over again, warm up cold hands and sometimes feet, stay on top of household chores, help dress, play videos and music to inspire and entertain, go for walks, lead exercises at home, bead necklaces and bracelets, read newspapers, magazines and books. I do everything I can to make the lives of those I take care of easier, more enjoyable and comfortable. I strongly believe in home care.

I am a retired teacher, having worked for 23 years at the elementary level. I have 2 children, ages 30 and 24. As a babysitter and nanny, I have worked with children aged newborn-13 years old. I have many years of childcare experience, both personal and professional. I am happy to take your children to the park, music class, library, story time, etc. I can help with potty training as well. I have an excellent driving record. I'm CPR certified and First-aid trained. I have an outgoing personality and a loving nature. I am a nurse by profession for over 20 years, as well as an experienced nanny with excellent references by request. I have experience with children newborn through 7 years old. As a nurse, I have always wanted to provide quality care and attention to all I have had in my care. The same applies to the children that I care for. I especially love working with children, as it affords me the opportunity to be a positive contributor to the child's growth and development. I am young at heart and very energetic. I enjoy the outdoors, weather permitting. I feel it's an important element to a child's growth to introduce them to nature and the world around them. In the last year of working with my current family, I have realized things about myself, my youth and what my life means. Working with older people helps me to appreciate life, especially when carrying with seniors with ailments such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Sharing in conversation, hearing stories of what life used to be like is like having a world of history before your eyes.

Care giving has been apart of my life since I was a child. I remember watching my family members care for others and what an impact it had on my thoughts, memories and choices. It is my firm belief that the only reason humans are born is to learn to help and assist others on this journey of life. The more love and care we give to others, the more we will evolve and have more freedom within ourselves to open up and expand our hearts and minds. Care giving is an important part of life choices and I know when it comes to home care it is important for the right fits on both sides of the equation. On a practical level, I have skills in cooking vegetarian, non-veg, and baking. I am vegetarian for 30 years, having knowledge of alternative foods that create a sense of health and well being. I like to share this with others in the forms they are comfortable with.
