I am a charismatic and energetic individual with a passion for educating and mentoring children. I enjoy connecting and interacting with new people while learning and exploring adventurous and exiting new endeavors as well as bringing individual potential out in those I encounter. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas in the South Gate area where I attended Roberts Elementary School, followed by Duchesne Academy and finally graduated from Incarnate Word Academy. I have had experience since the age of 14, babysitting multiple children within my neighborhood. During my time at Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia, studying Early Childhood Education, I have had experience volunteering with the Atlanta Public Schools with multiple elementary schools mostly with children at the kindergarten age level. I have had previous internship opportunities with the Uncommon Schools in Newark New Jersey, where I taught and managed a classroom of 15. I have also worked with the Raising Expectations Program where I mentored and tutored middle-school boys and girls in math. From these experiences, I have learned patience as well as sharpened my ability to effectively interact with many different learning abilities and personalities of multiple children. In my free time, I love to travel and enjoy all aspects of the arts. I can also cook a variety of different meals ranging from breakfast to dinner. I am also conversational in Spanish and I speak some French. I am also a beginner in American Sign Language.

Hello! My name is Sonya S. I am a mother and educator living in Los Angeles, Ca. I have five years of formal classroom experience in early childhood education, and 10 years of combined formal and informal teaching experience with children ranging from infants to high school. As a former assistant director of an early learning center, I have experience working with families and other resources to achieve student academic success. I graduated from Spelman College, with a B. A. in Education Studies, where I have had various and diverse teaching experiences. I have been a tutor for over 6 years. I am tutoring subjects such as Calculus, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Biology. I have also been employed with a tutoring program for the past two years.

Graduate of Spelman College in 2009. My teacher journey has given me the opportunity to work and teach children ranging from infants, preschoolers, elementary and high school aged. I have also worked within various educational settings including public school, private school, and within Montessori environments. My graduate studies at Relay Graduate School of Education was in teaching Exceptional Learners (Special Education). I love working with children and believe it is so rewarding and fulfilling to watch a child grow. I am the mother of a 10-year-old son and currently I teach 4th grade special education in Atlanta.

I work for the U. S. Department of State. I have an M. S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. I am a graduate of Spelman College as of May 2014 with a 3. 83 cumulative GPA. I graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program in high school with a 4. 4 GPA. I can tutor in any subject for elementary students. I have worked as a private tutor for over 5 years and two years as a College Spanish tutor. Privately, I have worked with two 5th graders, and one of them I worked with from 5th-7th grade. I have also worked with one 3rd grader who is now in 4th grade. I also worked with college students for all levels of Spanish.

Having worked as a tutor consistently since high school, I have developed advanced skills in relating to and building the confidence and abilities of students. I served as a senior mentor in high school, a tutor/mentor with the Georgia Tech Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing during my college years, and a volunteer with LevelTen (a non-profit organization devoted to closing the achievement gap). I have also led many tutoring projects and programs as the community service chair of the Math Club at Spelman College. I have experience working with families in the past.

I have worked with vulnerable populations (small children and the elderly) my entire life- working as a summer camp counselor, gymnastics coach, children's birthday party coordinator, and on call personal nanny, as well as the occasional side jobs. I also work as a tutor for all age groups as education has no age limits! I do both virtual and in-person sessions. I specialize in science, math, literature, and k-3 level Spanish. Hello! I began my babysitting path at the age of 14, alongside my mother. From there my childcare path widened to college where I was a full-time nanny for a family throughout my senior year. I was responsible for school pickups, conducting play time activities, helping with small school activities, preparing lunch/ dinner and bedtime. I am also an experienced tutor and teacher. As of recent, I was a Reading Interventionist and Data Specialist, teaching 1st through 9th graders. I throughly enjoyed my time teaching and it would be fun to be able to incorporate that again

I have been babysitting since my preteens as a care provider for children as young as new born to young adolescents. Child care has always been passion. I volunteered and tutored young grade school students at a church in Atlanta, GA for community service for one semester. I enjoyed volunteering as youth counselor as well as assisted head football coach for a league in New Rochelle, NY.
