My Experience in Childcare
I have grown up around the world. Quite literally I have lived a life traveling to many far away places. I have always wanted to work with children. I saw my own creativity and wanted an older mentor, or someone who could nourish me and someone who I could look up to. As I became older I began to take care of my little brother and cousins. Sometimes we would make music. My brother would play on his little drums and I would accompany him on my flute or guitar. We would pretend to be all kinds of magical characters: one day a pirate, the next a mouse. Hide and Seek was always a favorite. I would tell stories. When it was time for bed, the kids were so tired from their play, they had no difficulties sleeping the night away.
My main experience has been working with children in a non profit organization called charm. This organization is dedicated to working with children, specifically girls in Indian villages where education is not free. Most girls are married off by the time they are 16. They dont have a chance to succeed because they are so poor. The goal of charm is to empower and enable these children through art theory, mentorship and education to reach out and spread their wings.
I am CPR certified and have taken many child development courses. I'm currently a student but looking to transfer to UCLA in the next two years. I was an intern at Fremont Elementary School, and worked with almost 60 children ranging from ages 5- 10. I tutored them as well as taught them in big groups. This is an experience I will never forget.
I am dedicated to being a mentor, sitter, and tutor for children of all ages. My deepest inspiration is in seeing them grow and prosper creatively and emotionally.
