As a retired special needs teacher for 30 years, I've done a variety of housekeeping and pet care jobs both in Memphis and in Michigan. I am a mother of 3 adult children and grandmother of three; ages 14, 6 and 2. I've taught school K-12 in several Michigan school systems as well as residential programs for adjudicated youth. In my work I've also served as a child behavior consultant as my area in special needs education is in behavioral and emotional difficulties. Hello everyone! My name is Tessa; a 25-year-old living in Kansas City, MO. I am currently a senior level nursing student in an accelerated BSN program at William Jewell College. I will be graduating in May of 2021! I absolutely LOVE children and plan to specialize in the pediatric nursing field in the near future. I have a great deal of knowledge and experience working with kiddos of all ages: newborns-teenagers, and even children with special needs. Leaving your kiddo in the hands of someone else can be scary, but you can be rest assured they will receive the best care and love that I can offer. Not only do I know how to safely care for your kiddos, I also know how to have fun! In the past, when I was nannying for families over the summer, I would take the kiddos to the park, pool, amusement parks, sports practices, summer school or wherever they need. I am currently a First Grade Teacher but I have also taught Kindergarten for 5 years. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2017 with a degree in Elementary Education and an additional major in Child Development. I have cared for my own pets for the past 25 years. I have had 4 dogs, 4 cats, hamsters, lizards & guinea pigs. I have also raised 3 children. I have been a stay at home mom for 20 years. I care for my pets like I care for my children. They are the love of my life. I am physically engaged with my pets as my dogs were all Australian Shepherds and required a lot of physical activity and mental stimulation. I walk them, play in yard, visit stores, groom, bathe, train and am knowledgeable in agility. I structure my pets' time by interacting with them for interval periods of time throughout the day. I use the crate for down time throughout the day as well. I give individual care and attention to all of my pets. The cats get brushing, playing and stroking time and brief outdoor time as they are indoor cats. I am very clean and therefore keep all hair vacuumed and litter scooped and tidy. I have also cared for pets of friends on a regular basis (dogs, fish, birds, etc.). I most recently cared for 6 finches who were delightful. At this time in my life with my children becoming young adults, I have decided to work as a pet caregiver. I have found great joy in caring for animals. I love all animals, particularly dogs. I would like the opportunity to give your pet a home away from home while you are away from your home. Depending on your needs, I would like to make myself available to come to your home or take your pet into my home for an extended stay. I would like to offer what the big kennels can't offer which is one on one attention throughout the day and night with outdoor play and indoor cuddling.
