My name is Catherine Speer and I have worked in senior care both professionally and personally. Professionally in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in direct care and companionship. But also personally, caring for a grandmother as she bravely confronted and lived with Alzheimer's disease. My mother who battled diabetes and the complications associated with it. Having cared for them I have a deep desire to make life as enjoyable for our seniors as possible, because through even the toughest times, we can find some happiness too. That is my goal for the seniors in my care and to that end I have licensed my home as an Adult Foster Home-Small Group, also sometimes referred to as a board and care home. I have 2 large private rooms, fully furnished with new queen beds and memory foam/gel mattresses, linens, blankets and quilts, comfortable chairs, flat screen TV with cable and internet. There is a shared bath between the rooms shared only by the 2 residents. We provide everything you or your senior will need, 3 meals prepared and customized to you and your tastes, an open kitchen policy with healthy snacks like fresh fruit available anytime each day. There is a dining room where all can sit together for meals if desired, a family room with fireplace and beamed ceiling to relax and enjoy TV or a game on the Wii fit. French doors lead to the back patio/pergola and the heated in ground pool. Or you can relax on the covered front porch to take in the breeze and just enjoy the nature around us, although this is a neighborhood we are near Hines Park and Phoenix Lake and often see deer and have lots of birds to watch. Gardening is also available if you like as well as a host of other activities. We are near the Friendship Station Senior Center as well as downtown Plymouth with it's many activities like; Friday Music in the Park, Art in the Park and Fall Festival. Plenty to do! Getting to doctor appointments, housekeeping, medication reminders and assistance are all a part of what I provide. This is also a pet-friendly home so if you have a cat or small dog you just can't be without we can accommodate that as well! We have a dog door so your pet can go outside to a fenced area when need be.
