Reading Remedies Literacy Clinic

My name is Suzanne. I am a NYS certified Reading Specialist and the owner of Reading Remedies Literacy Clinic in Sound Beach, NY. I taught in the public schools for 14 years as an elementary teacher (Pre-K-6) and a reading specialist (K-12). I now run areading clinic out of my home. I utilize The Academic Associates Reading program. The Academic Associates Reading Program is a complete course in reading and comprehension. It encompasses all the sounds, rules and processes of reading beginning with work-attack skills and progressively encompasses comprehension, retention, evaluation, application and fluency. Most students complete the program in fewer than 50 hours. They will gain 2 to 4 reading levels during this time. This program has completely changed my philosophy of teaching reading. It is the opposite of of what the public schools are doing. We never use flash cards (promotes memorizing). We never use objects, colors or physical movements to represent sounds (too much unnecessary information). We never use pictures in teaching (promotes guessing).
