About the business
My name is Suzanne. I am a NYS certified Reading Specialist and the owner of Reading Remedies Literacy Clinic in Sound Beach, NY. I taught in the public schools for 14 years as an elementary teacher (Pre-K-6) and a reading specialist (K-12). I now run a reading clinic out of my home.
I utilize The Academic Associates Reading program. The Academic Associates Reading Program is a complete course in reading and comprehension. It encompasses all the sounds, rules and processes of reading beginning with work-attack skills and progressively encompasses comprehension, retention, evaluation, application and fluency. Most students complete the program in fewer than 50 hours. They will gain 2 to 4 reading levels during this time.
This program has completely changed my philosophy of teaching reading. It is the opposite of of what the public schools are doing. We never use flash cards (promotes memorizing). We never use objects, colors or physical movements to represent sounds (too much unnecessary information). We never use pictures in teaching (promotes guessing).

As we approached Middle school I was concerned and we started this individualized program. Connor has been in the program since August and I am so proud to say he is ON GRADE LEVEL for the FIRST TIME ......and we are not done with the program yet!! It was just what he needed to pull all the missing pieces together! It is a different approach and I highly recommend the program and it's instructor!!!

"Anyone who has a child who is struggling in reading, you need to try this program! Suzanne is amazing at what she does! My daughter was not only struggling with letter recognition and learning to read, but she also had very low self esteem do to her struggles. I was beside myself as a mother and had no idea what to do and then someone recommended Suzanne. She is the best thing that has come into our lives! In a matter of weeks my daughter knew all of her letters and in a few months she is reading. She also no longer has issues with her self confidence, which was the biggest hurtle. Suzanne is a miracle and I am so thankful we got that recommendation."
