Here is the story of the founder, Beth Forrestee and how she decided to open a tutoring agency.
I never thought I'd retire. I love teaching. I love helping kids figure out how to cope with school and each other. I love connecting with parents, and becoming part of a team with them. I love finding and sharing fascinating content with children. I love figuring out what and how each child learns. I love finding ways to excite kids about learning.
Part of what drove my decision to retire was the implementation of the common core standards. The Common Core has pushed districts into requiring teachers to RACE. This past year, so many parents of "average" students have approached me and confided in me that their child is falling apart -- feeling notconfident and anxious, taking hours to complete homework, failing test after test. I think I can help reverse this trend and help these children love school again and feel confident in their ability.
Here's my plan. As a retiree, I've decided to continue helping children, this time as a tutor and director of a tutoring agency. I am assembling a team of teachers who, like me, are smart, well-trained, artful, creative, thoughtful, and loving. Good teaching requires delicacy, diplomacy, care, generosity, remembering, creating, reworking, and networking. As a tutor, I hope I can provide that for you, and for the children in your care.
Doesn't this sound like someone you would like working with your child? If so, hire Helping Learners. You will see that after sessions with Helping Learners, your child loves learning and feels confident once again.
