About the business
Kath P., Owner/Lead Trainer
Kath has spent her life working and living with animals. She grew up riding horses - usually acquiring horses and ponies no one else wanted and working with them until they were ready to compete and succeed. Dogs were also a part of her everyday life. She trained them through the natural course of a life outdoors. Once in high school she began working with her dogs in a more formal training environment and there began her passion for purposeful and directed training efforts.
Kath has worked exclusively with dogs since 2003 when she moved out of the non-profit world and helped a friend with a dog walking and sitting business. After a couple of years, she struck out on her own and started Gone with the Dogs, a successful walking, sitting and training business in the Boston area. GWTD was sold to a colleague after Kath moved to the Chester County area in 2007.
Training Philosophy
Kath pulls from her life-long experiences with both horses and dogs as well as her formal higher education in dog obedience instruction when working with dogs and human clients. She uses a combination of dogs psychology, positive reinforcement, behavior modification and traditional (and modified traditional) training techniques. Each dog is treated as a unique individual, whether the dog is just a pup starting out or is a mature dog with behavioral issues.
She firmly believes this is the only way to a life-long obedient and faithful family companion. The relationship between a dog and its human partner is an important and powerful one - and it is nurtured as such. All training is specifically designed and adjusted to achieve the best results for the dog, the owner and this relationship.
