THIS IS NOT A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY!!! Ugh what a disappointment - lesson learned don't make the same mistake I did.

I hired this company to clean my father's home in Johnson City, NY after a bathroom renovation project left dust throughout his small house. I live out of town in the Washington DC area and was looking to help ease the load on him. I contacted Clever Cleaners after I found them online and spoke to Jason who then referred me to the owner, Jennifer. She contacted me and I explained the need to have a cleaning service do a deep-cleaning at my dad's house as a result of the renovation project that was coming to an end.
Jennifer gave me an immediate estimate based on our conversation of $125-$135 but she needed to see the house. She made an appointment to visit the house and then called me back with a quote of $175 because she needed to buy chemicals that she was not considering before she saw the property. The cleaning date was set and I paid her a deposit of $75. Actually $150 because the transaction went through twice (they sent me 2 venmo bills) and when the double-billing took place I asked them to reverse the funds and they didn't. No big deal, except that I did PREPAY $150 of the $175 quote.
On the day of service, she called my dad and told him that she would be late because she would have to drive slowly because she was driving without her glasses. She arrived at 9:45 AM rather than the 9:00 AM scheduled start. Then repeatedly complained while cleaning that she couldn't see because she didn't have her glasses (this was just more unprofessional that anything).
When she was done with the job (4 hours later) at 1:45 PM she texted me and told me that her boss told her that she would have to charge me $225 because she worked 6 hours really hard and traveled to the house in bad weather. When I questioned, "I thought you told me that you were the business owner?" She said, "my partner said $225." This was obviously becoming a shake-down of a client who was out-of-town. She claimed that she ended up doing work that went beyond the scope of her original quote. One of those tasks she claimed was washing and drying the curtains - incredibly I found out that it was actually my father that did the curtains. There was much more but suffice it to say that I was disappointed that what could have been a continuing service ended up being a lesson learned the hard way.
I DID immediately pay the full amount of the $225.00 that she charged. But it was an entirely UNPROFESSIONAL conclusion to my desire to contract this business.
This is obviously a side-hustle for Jason and Jenn, not a career. Let me advise that you not entrust your home or business to their care. Integrity is so lacking and yet so important.
