Piano teacher has openings in schedule. This is a great time to start. I have a place for 3 more students interested in taking piano lessons. I have a degree in music therapy and have now taught lessons for years. I am a pianist and a violist and have played since I was in elementary school, and have developed a true love of teaching. I enjoy spreading the music around, I enjoy watching the children grow and learn, and I enjoy teaching each new skill as it sparks a new interest in the child. I specialize in beginning musicians and have a great rapport with children. I have a great passion for helping developing musicians fall in love with music. I believe that music is not just about the instrument, but it is about the whole musician and teaching ear training and a love of music overall. I obviously teach how to play the instrument, but it is with a goal towards a greater person and a greater love of music and an overall more disciplined person.

I take a different approach with every student based on his/her ability, interest, and attention span. I believe learning to play music should be a fun and rewarding experience, and understand that everyone does not learn at the same pace or ability level, and that musical interests always vary. My lessons are adapted personally to each student to include not only working from lesson books and sheet music, but also: - Ear training - Using intervals and learning musical terminology - Learning to play by ear - Songwriting and music composition. The study of music has been proven to increase cognitive functions and increase ability for children in various other school subjects, improving concentration and focus.

I would love to sit and talk with you about my philosophy of teaching and my goals. I do an meet and greet before we make decisions about lessons, to make sure all 3 of us (you, me and your child) are on the same page. Practice is required. Think of it as music homework. A child cannot learn to play without daily practice. I charge $20 for a half hour lesson. Please contact me with any questions.
